Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam in order to recruit candidates for the posts of Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Sorting Assistant (SA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO).
In order to fulfil SSC CHSL 2022-23 eligibility criteria candidates must meet the parameters mentioned below:
A candidate must be either of the following:
• A citizen of India
• A subject of Nepal
• A subject of Bhutan
• A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan/ Burma/ Sri Lanka/ East African countries of Kenya/ Uganda/ the United Republic of Tanzania/ Zambia/ Malawi/ Zaire/ Ethiopia/ Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
The SSC CHSL age limit for the posts has been set at a minimum 18 years and a maximum of 27 years as on 1st of February 2022, i.e. candidates born not before 2nd January 1995 and not later than 1st January 2004 are eligible to apply for the SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam.
However, it may be noted that age relaxation is also given to different reserved category candidates as mentioned below

For LDC/ JSA / SA, DEO (except DEOs in C&AG): The candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. For Data Entry Operator (DEO) in the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG):
12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.

SSC CHSL tier 1 is conducted for all the candidates who fulfil SSC CHSL eligibility as set by the authorities. Only candidates who qualify Tier 1 exam will be able to appear for Tier 2. Candidates can check out the SSC CHSL exam pattern Tier 1 below for an enhanced understanding of the exam.
• Tier 1 exam is an objective-type multiple choice test which is held in online mode.
• SSC CHSL exam pattern for Tier 1 consists of 4 sections - English, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Intelligence and Reasoning.
• There are a total of 100 questions in the exam with each section consisting of 25 questions.
• SSC CHSL duration for the exam is 60 minutes. The duration is 80 minutes for PwD candidates.
• For each correct answer, candidates are awarded 2 marks.
• For every incorrect answer, there is SSC CHSL negative marking of 0.50 marks.

SSC has revised SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern and the new pattern has been detailed below-
Tier-II will include following three sections having two modules each:
Section-1: Module-I: Mathematical Abilities and Module-II: Reasoning and General Intelligence.
Section-2: Module-I: English Language and Comprehension and Module-II: General Awareness
Section-3: Module-I: Computer Knowledge Test and Module-II: Skill Test/ Typing Test
Tier-2 will be conducted in two sessions - Session- 1 & Session-2, on same day. Session-I will include conducting of Section-1, Section-2 and Module-1 of Section-3. Session-2 will include conducting of Module-2 of Section-3.
Tier-2 will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions, except for Module 2 of Section 3. The questions will be set in English and Hindi except for Module-2 (i.e. English Language and Comprehension module) in Section 2.
