NDA 2016 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who are appearing for the NDA exam 2016 are advised to check all the details of the exam including the eligibility criteria. The details of the eligibility criteria is mentioned below:

NDA 2016 Educational Qualifications:

  • • For Indian Army wing of National Defence Academy: The candidates appearing for the exam must have passed or appearing class 12th from a recognized board or university.
  • • For Air force and Indian Navy: The candidates must have passed or appearing class 12th with physics and Mathematics from a recognized board or university.

NDA 2016 Nationality:

The candidates must be a:

  • • a citizen of India , or
  • • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • • a subject of Nepal, or
  • • a Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 01 January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • • Only unmarried candidates are allowed to write the NDA exam 2016.

NDA 2016 Age Limit:

  • • (For NDA I 2016): The candidates not born before 2nd July 1997 and not later than 1st July 2000 are eligible.
  • • (For NDA II 2016): The candidates not born before 2nd January 1998 and not later than 1st July 2001 are eligible.

NDA 1 and 2 2016 Exam Pattern

The NDA exam consists of two papers: Mathematics and General ability test, below we have discussed both the papers in details.

  • • Mathematics: The mathematics paper is of 300 marks and consist of multiple choice questions based on the syllabus of class 11th and 12th. The time allowed to write the paper is 2.5 hr.
  • • General Ability: The General Ability test comprises of two section i.e. Section A and Section B. The section A is of English (200 marks) and Section B (400 marks) is of general knowledge
  • • All the questions are MCQ type and contain a negative marking for the wrong answers
  • • The NDA 2016 admit card will be announced few weeks prior to the examination, in the official website of UPSC.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected based on performance in Written Examination, Psychological Aptitude Test, Intelligence & Personality Test and SSB Interview

Pattern of SSB interview

SSB conducts an elaborate interview of the written qualified candidates to test their physical, psychological fitness and team spirit necessary for the defence services. This consists of 900 marks.

Application Fee

Candidates have to Pay Rs.100/- in the form of Cash in any Branch of SBI or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by using any Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card. No Fee for SC/ ST candidates and sons of serving/ ex-Junior Commissioned Offcers/ Non-Commissioned Officers/ Other Ranks of Army and equivalent ranks in the Indian Navy/ Indian Air Force

Instructions for Applying Online

1. Before applying online candidates should scan the copies of photograph and signature.
2. Log on to the website
3. Click on “Online Application for Various Examinations of UPSC”.
4. Select the desired post & fill the Part I Online Application form by selecting the link.
5. Fill all the mandatory details and Submit.
6. After successful submission, an unique Registration ID will be generated, note it.
7. Make the fee payment and revisit the website.
8. Select Part II Registration and Log in yourself.
9. Fill all the mandatory details in Part II of Application.
10. After submitting the application form, take print out of system generated application form for further reference.
